Start with a drive to see mobs of Eastern Grey Kangaroos from a safe distance, most active in early morning feeding on open grassland. You may spot joeys in their mothers’ pouches.
Next, take a short mangrove walk to observe a variety of waders, water birds, and perching birds in their natural habitat.
Visit Osprey House environmental center, with several lookouts to explore different habitats. From here, access another bird hide and enjoy a short walk or drive with expansive mangrove views.
Continue by crossing Houghton Highway, one of Australia’s longest bridges, offering views of Hays Inlet and the Glasshouse Mountains.
Stop at two additional mangrove lookouts en route to the HMQS Gayundah shipwreck at Woody Point. The historic ship was intentionally beached in the 1950s as a breakwater.
