Milton & Park Road

Famous for being...
home to the "Fourex" Castlemaine brewery, Milton is quite an industrial suburb, about 2km west of the city, south of Paddington. The brewery dominates the Milton Road bypass, and has a visitor centre and guided tours for dedicated beer lovers.
It also acts like a homing beacon...
For those heading back from the city on Saturday nights, as it sits handily opposite Milton train station. Also near the station, is the popular bar and restaurant scene of Park Road, connecting the main Milton Road with Coronation Drive down by the river, and many Brisbanites will hop a train to Milton and spend an evening strolling along this always-busy strip of shops, pubs and clubs before jumping the last ride home. Park Road is crammed full of themed restaurants, authentic Italian cafes and kitsch little shops, and every few yards the mood can change from Italian, to French, to American, to Anywhere-In-The-World, so for that reason it feels a bit Vegas-y, especially when you see the mini-Eiffel Tower that dominates the skyline above La Dolce Vita restaurant.
Towards the northern end of Milton...
Near Paddington. it's a little more residential, with offices and retail units giving way to some pleasant tree-lined streets and quite substantial detached houses along Baroona Road. Sports fans will come here for the Suncorp Stadium, where you can catch the Brisbane Broncos (rugby league) and Brisbane Roar (A-League football). But if you need some peace and quiet after the hustle and bustle of Park Road, then Gregory Park and Milton Park both offer plenty of green space in which to recharge those batteries.
